Sketch from life of people in Tinneys Bar with Eugine in Foreground, 2006, black chalk, 59 x 42 cm
Sometime in December one of Tinneys Bar (often spelt as Tinney's Bar on the net) regulars, Chang asked me if I would care to
do some pictures of the bar as a sort of record because it was about to be renovated and the
bar itself, so beloved of many, could dissappear. I agreed and did the first set of
skectches on the Friday before Christmass. Imagine my surprise to learn soon after that
Maol’osa Boyle, Paula Bernardella, Damien Duffy and Kieran Ferris
from the Void gallery just up the street had come up
with the brilliant idea of transporting the bar to a room in the gallery where
it could continue to function as Tinney's bar until the renovations were complete and at the same time
become an Art work.
